Little Terrorist...

We had Stake Conference this past weekend. It was very good, but my favorite talk all of conference was given by our Stake President during the Saturday evening adult session. President Stott followed the theme given which was raising the Rising Generation. He started with the bold statement... "Babies and little ones are little Terrorist. Selfish, time consuming, and destructive little ones"  Oh my goodness I think everyone in attendance was now awake and alert!

He went on to tell parents that we need to learn the military ways, that during one of the wars they set traps and such. Then he went on to describe the trap and it was the perfect tactic to catching a running child, the common... you go one way I'll go the other!

He then talked about later in life how "we can't choose their battles, but we can choose their battlefield. Prepare them for battle."

He then talked about Parents and the unit of husband and wife and how it effects the family. He said that you never fall out of love with someone, but you do get disinterested.

President Stott said "the opposite of Love is not hate....it is disinterest, and disengagement"

He went on to tell us as couples to constantly be engaged in one another. That as long as we are engaged in our family, and our spouse that everything would be fine. He spoke of a family that the mother and the father were both good people, no moral issues but the family still fell apart because the father was so engaged in his internet world and nothing else. It was more important for him to see the computer when he got home from work then it was to see his family!

I do believe that this is one of those things that we are going to start hearing more and more about. He said to raise our kids that they are prepared socially. Get them off the computer and stop the texting and encourage them to go out and interact with others in person.

I loved this talk and the way it was given. I am not sure if our Stake President has anything to do with the military, but I sure liked the way he put things.
