I got my job at Costco almost 90 days ago. They told us (6 girls) that in our 90 days we could get let go for any reason. I knew that was a true statement but what I didn't know is how serious they were. They way Costco works is they hire you Part time LIMITED. That limited title gives them the right to say you are not a regular employee. You are supposed to keep the limited status till your 90 days and then they decided where you go from there. As a limited employee you don't get benefits at all. You have to land a regular part time job to receive benefits of all kinds.
They told us the harder we work the quicker we would land a regular part time job but that it probably would not happen till our 90 day review. At my 60 day review I received a phone call while in California asking if I would like a regular part time job in the Costco Bakery! I was so excited and of course said YES!!!! I have been in the bakery now for 3 weeks and am beginning to really like it. I do the night shift which is cleaning but I am back there all by myself and other then answer questions for customers no one bugs me! I love it back there.
Yesterday I went up for my lunch break and all of the girls I got hired with were pretty much up there. They began to tell me how one of the girls they already let go! I could not believe it! We were all talking about who was next and what we all had done wrong..... but I seriously thought to myself that we were all pretty hard workers so we should all be fine. About 20 minutes after I had been back from break a girl ran back and said that they had just let go another one of us.
So I am here to say right now how grateful I am that my parents were such hard workers in life and were such grate examples to me so that I know what it means to work hard and have the wonderful job that I have. Costco is such a hard company to work for at first. They say only the strong survive! Well I hope I am a strong one because my 90 days is up next week!
