Toothless...

Today Derek and I had dental appointments. I was getting my tooth drilled and ready for a crown and Derek was getting his permanent crown.

I got into my chair and the fun began. I hate getting dental work done. I hate the numbing shots the most. The nice thing about this dentist is I got numbed before my numbing shots and it was so nice. I hardly felt it at all. The drilling then began and just kept going and going and going. Finally after about an hour of drilling the dentist took a picture of my tooth (or what was left of it) and told me there wasn't enough tooth left to even put a crown on. He them told me I had two choices... a tooth implant, which he wasn't even sure if it would have worked because it is a molar in the far back, or to pull it. I of course was all for pulling it!

Well they numbed me even more and started pulling. It didn't hurt, but it felt like they were pulling on my sinuses in my nose area. That's how deep the root was. It took them forever to get the tooth out because they had shaved away so much of it already trying to save the tooth. As they kept working and working my Dentist was great to ask if I was ok and when I could start feeling it he would give me a numbing shot again. Towards the end he got so sick of stopping that he gave me the "big numbing shot" and with in minutes the whole left side of my face was numb. Have you ever tried blinking with the area around your eye numb.....Not fun!

Any ways the best part of this whole story is my dental bill for the crown was $700.00 and to pull the tooth was only $77.00!  Yes I have one less tooth in the far back of my mouth, but what savings!

After 3 hours Derek and I made our way home and I had him take a picture of my still numb smile. We had some good laughs this evening in the car.....I looked so fun and Derek just kept telling me to stop smiling, and of course I was laughing so hard I was crying so how could I stop smiling......Just call me two-face....
