For my birthday this year I was given some money and had no clue what to get... I finally decided to get a really expensive photo shop program at a student price which is really neat. The program is $800.00 normally and as a college student you can get it for $200.00. What a steal right. So on Thursday Derek and I went into the store to get the photo shop CS5. Derek was the one buying it because he was the student and he asked the clerk "so what makes this the student edition is there any difference with the program" the clerk told him " No differnece just the fact that you can't make gain off the student version." My heart instantly dropped to my stomach, I knew right there that my birthday present was gone. Derek looked at me as I was standing a cross the room and he said "Ok, no thanks we didn't know that". I gave it to Derek once we left. I was so mad that here we are trying to do the right thing instead of getting a free version off of some illegal site we were trying to buy the program and since we are students there is nothing wrong with it. BUT NOW I have to save up another $600.00 before i can get the program! I left there feeling defeated as a photographer. $800 for photo shop, $2000.00 for the lens I need, $2000.00 for the camera body, and $50.00 for the battery that just died (I always have two). I told Derek I just want to quit!
Well later that evening I went to Barnes and Noble to get an inspiring book to help me get in a better mood about photography. As I was walking out of Barnes and Noble I saw the most amazing sky that took my breath away. At that moment my first thought was....where's my camera, I have about 5 minutes before these beautiful pinks disappear, I need to get out of this shopping center to see the whole sky....hurry, hurry, hurry. I did exactly that while driving I got Derek's point and shoot and started taking picture while driving.
After that experience I realized that I do need to save up and no matter how expensive things are I am a photographer by nature and I have to use this talent! SO if anyone out there would like to donate to a cause I would like a nikon d700, a 24-70mm 2.8 lens, and photo shop CS5. Thanks!
