"Your husband is a good man"
Tonight Derek and I went to a dinner for his Spanish program. One of the teachers is leaving the program and they had a going away get together for her. Even though I have been very sick I did my make-up, put on a dress and got ready to go. I told Derek I was very nervous to meet everyone because he has been working with them for two years and I have never once met them. As we got there I felt very comfortable and people just raved about how funny and wonderful Derek is. The teacher that is leaving is Carmen Garcia. During the evening Carmen came and sat next to me on a couch, just her and I. She looked at me and said "I know I told you earlier that your husband is a good man, but I need to tell you again....Your. husband. is a good. man! " She then said "Not a good teacher, not a good student, but a good man and you don't find that very often. You know you marry and man for yourself and he is always a great man, but you can't choose the father of your children he just chooses to be or not to be that. Let me tell you Derek is a good man and he will be a great father for your children, and well if you don't have children he will be a great man for you forever." So you can guess I was in tears and all I could possible say was Thank you to her. I told Derek this after and he asked me if she was saying that he wasn't a good teacher or student.....hahaha. I guess we will never know for sure what she meant by that but one thing is for sure I was able to look at my husband from afar and watch him laugh and smile with co-workers while having his professor tell me how amazing he is. I love moments like these during hard times! Times are a little hard for me right now, but I am grateful to have Derek by my side.
