The Ring....

A couple of nights ago Derek and I were watching the office. Derek and I were discussing an episode where Michael Scott buys Holly her ring on 3 years salary instead of the "proper amount" which is 3 months salary. Of course this is something that I had never heard of till watching the office so I turned and asked Derek "Did you spend 3 month salary on my ring?" To which he replied "No, I gave you everything I had."

I about cried! I have thought about this moment for days now and how much I love Derek and how special he is to me. And what a true statement. When we got engaged Derek was a student living off his dad's money, not working, and going to school at BYU-Provo. He would go in and give plasma twice a week to be able to pay for my ring with his own money and not his dad's money. He even told me that towards the end of getting the last bit of money he had to drink a gallon of orange juice one night because he started feeling sick. You can't give plasma if you are sick so he drank the orange juice and woke up in the morning feeling well enough to go give plasma for one of the last payments of my ring. I also love how Derek and I had gone ring shopping months before, but when it all came down to it he had my ring made and he choose the design. 4 1/2 years later I still love my ring and the man that came with it!
